Totally Unicorn have always been purveyors of fine aesthetic, with singer Drew Gardner almost infamous for his hyper-colour bodysuits and rainbow tie-dye everything – this jarring colour palette lends itself incredibly well to the music vid for brand new single ‘Grub’.
Part Tim & Eric episode, part vaporwave odyssey, seemingly straight from a VHS tape – the clip is every bit as weird as you would expect. With two Drews singing, dancing and trying to out-drink each other, the track’s theme of “the lure of vices” comes through as we witness pints go down… and come back up again.
Grub is the first single to feature Totally Unicorn’s new line-up, with former Robotosaurus drummer Adam Myers joining Gardner, Streatfeild and bassist Lee Neilson in 2017. For the first time in their career, Totally Unicorn are a four-piece with Streatfeild the sole guitarist, and that lean set-up is reflected in the music they’re making. Audiences in Melbourne, Geelong (River Rocks Festival), Wollongong, Sydney and Brisbane will get the first taste of the new era of Totally Unicorn this November.
