Since forming in 2010, Melbourne’s The Smith Street Band have toured relentlessly, making repeated laps around Australia as well as overseas jaunts to the US, UK and Europe, and have landed themselves a reputation for one of the hardest working bands in the country. But the last three months have seen The Smithies take a touring hiatus whilst they’ve been deep in the depths of regional Victoria, getting their hands dirty building their very own off-grid studio.
With that in mind, you might have guessed it, The Smith Street Band promise new music and an Australian tour in 2019. Having spent months constructing the studio, with the help of some very hard working friends, the band will set about recording their 5th studio album, excited to record in a space they built from the ground up, the new studio will be the birthing ground for their forthcoming album as well as a space that many of their mates will also use in the months to come.
The 2019 tour dates will see The Smith Street Band tour to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart and Perth playing new tracks as well as dipping into the band’s rich back catalogue. Joining them on the road will be New Zealand guitar pop four piece The Beths and Brisbane based trio, and self proclaimed dorks, Sweater Curse.
