After premiering on triple j‘s Good Nights last night, Slowly Slowly are officially lifting the lid on their latest single ‘Safety Switch‘ today. Featuring guest vocals from rising Adelaide-based singer-songwriter Bec Stevens, ‘Safety Switch’ is the modern rock duet you didn’t know you needed.
Harnessing the fine line we tread in maintaining healthy relationships, ‘Safety Switch’ is a vivid, emotionally-charged effort in classic Slowly Slowly fashion.
Alongside the single comes a new music video featuring live footage of Stevens and Slowly Slowly frontman Ben Stewart in the studio while recording ‘Safety Switch’. Watch below.
Describing ‘Safety Switch’ in more depth, Stewart says the track speaks of the need to swallow our pride and acknowledge differences with each other.
“I tried to showcase how you get stuck on footholds in arguments and eventually lose the point of what you’re trying to achieve,” he explains. “It’s about being stubborn and wanting to win despite the consequences, and then being reminded in those very human moments, in the aftermath, of what is really important.”
