Fired up and making a stance, Brisbane four-piece punk band Semantics return today with topical new track ‘Bluelight’, which premiered earlier this week.

A melodic, instrumentally aggressive track filled with heavy basslines and anthemic hooks, ‘Bluelight’ is an exploration of socioeconomic themes and the effects sensationalist media has on young audiences.

“Bluelight discusses the effect sensationalist and oversaturated media has on the young mind. We’ve put it into a metaphor, where the consumer is practically talking to the article as if the media was personified. This opens an opportunity for the listener to apply their own experiences to the narrative while maintaining a clear point; journalism and politics have regressed into an opinionated, subjective form, skewing and manipulating our outlook in a toxic, contagious fashion,” explains vocalist, Callum Robinson.
