After turning heads with his breath-taking single ‘Dead Boys,’ rising UK star Sam Fender is once again looking to tug at the emotional and socially conscious strings of listeners with the release today of an intense and confronting new video for the single.
The clip complements the song’s difficult subject matter, tackling toxic masculinity and the resulting suicide epidemic that comes from it, and uses a series of striking images to play off the emotions and sensations triggered in the song’s unflinching lyrics and powerful arrangement.
“If this track helps one person open up then it’s the best thing I could hope for,” Fender summed up in a recent interview. It’s a bold aim from the relative newcomer, but such is the audacious and seriousness with which the Newcastle artist tackles his song writing and the ideology behind it, that you know he is completely sincere.
The name Sam Fender is still relatively fresh to Australian ears but it’s destined to become a staple of conversation in the not-so-distant future. The release of ‘Dead Boys’ has been followed up with the announcement of his place on the incredible Falls Festival 2018 line-up, where he’s set to debut his formidable live show for Australian audiences for the very first time.
