Auckland alt rock outfit CITY OF SOULS are weighing in with another glimpse into their forthcoming albumwith a brand new single and videoclip – ‘Ferryman’. ‘Ferryman’ sees, like previous single from earlier in 2019, “Wolf”, Forrester Savell (Sikth, Cog, Shihad Karnivool) at the production helm once again. The track will be released tomorrow, Friday October 11th, into all digital stores and streaming platforms at https://smarturl.it/FERRYMAN.
The new single Ferryman sees a polished and cohesive sound come into focus for City of Souls; and working with Forrester Savell allowed the band a big, wide, open space to work in to create the single, which the band considers to be the perfect track to herald the new record.
The meaning of the song speaks to trying to fix what can’t be and chasing the wrong things in life. Simpson went on to say that “It’s about choosing wisely with your time and what you spend it doing and why. Being aware if you’re hiding away your true self or buying things to fill a hole or seeking out addiction cycles. I’m terrified of wasting my life and the world not missing a breath when I go. The ferryman brings the living over into the world of the dead. When he comes to get me, I want to know I’m ready for the ride.”
