Melbourne four-piece dark pop-rock outfit PRETTY BLEAK today announce the release of their debut EP BLOOD, an all-encompassing and explorative body of work inspired by topics of nihilism, self-discovery, purgatory and more.
Self-described as dark-pop artists who draw creative influences from The Cure, Nirvana with Tim Burton-eqsue visuals, the band use these to fuse their unique aesthetic of ambient pop-punk-emo. A five-track journey, each track has released alongside a video clip which will be released in the coming weeks in the format of a short film.
The lead single off their EP of the same name, ‘blood’, showcases a black/death metal-inspired drum beat to evoke aggression and confrontation whilst lyrically exploring nihilism, self-indulgence as a coping mechanism: “Serving as a precursor to all the themes explored throughout the rest of the EP”, explains frontman Sam Thomas.
