Back in July we were excited to see Peach PRC support Yungblud at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney. Sadly due to illness, Peach was unable to perform that night but to the delight of Sydney fans, fast forward to October – and tonight she is playing a special intimate show. In fact she’s playing two special intimate shows! After already playing a matinee show in the afternoon, we headed along to the sold-out evening show at Oxford Art Factory.
The line of excited fans stretched down Oxford Street, waiting for doors to open. With the majority of fans dressing up for the occasion – pastel pink was the chosen colour palette for the night’s event.
First on stage to warm up the audience was Australian indie pop artist Yorke. Displaying a vulnerability in her lyrics and a captivating vocal tone. Her song ‘Window Shopping’ was a hit with the crowd and playing a piano based Taylor Swift cover won the room over.
From the ever-growing bar lines to the loyal fans pressed against the stage, the excitement was building for the bubble-gum pop princess to take to the stage. Screams erupted as Peach PRC appeared on the stage accompanied by her guitarist. With the shouts from the crowd almost masking the music.
What followed was a night of glittery peachy pop perfection from a starlet on the rise. Her original songs had the peach pit singing every word. Fan favourites like ‘Symptomatic’ and ‘God Is A Freak’. She even tapped in to her inner emo giving us a cover of ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ Then ending her set with the crowd in full voice for her fuck-you-anthem (and triple j favourite) ‘Josh’.
This crowd wasn’t ready to go home yet as “one more song” chants began. Then Peach PRC returned to the stage to give us an impromptu, stripped down version of Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’ leaving the whole crowd blushing and reaching for their cherry chapstick.
Tonight was such a special evening getting to witness Peach in her absolute element at such an intimate show. This sweet star lit up the stage with her ever-present smile and soaring vocals that had the audience up on fluffy pink clouds, Forever Drunk.
