Following the release of breakout single ‘Turned Loose’, Horror My Friend continue this path with ‘Dopamine Waster’ out today. The release premiered last night on triple j Good Nights and comes after the announcement of a co-headline tour with Melbourne’s RAT!hammock and their joint single release through James Tidswell’s (Violent Soho) Domestic LaLa (Dear Seattle, West Thebarton, etc.) imprint. December will see the band join Aussie heavyweights DZ Deathrays and Hockey Dad on a Canadian tour, marking Horror My Friend’s second overseas stint this year after their recent appearances at The Great Escape and Groezrock festivals. |

Dopamine Waster’ sees the band further refine their trademark sound while tackling a topic close to their hearts. In a quick (almost) three-minute burst, member Tom Gordon touches on mental illness and anxiety:
“The single, at least lyrically, deals with mental health and more specifically, anxiety and how quickly that feeling can come over you and push you down and make you want to feel small. But, on the other side, it also deals with how quickly the right person/people can bring you back out of it. So this song is nice and sad, all at the same time.”
