Maya is awakening the hardcore scene with the drop of their monumental EP “Despierta” today. Their unrelentingly aggressive single “Sangrando” set the tone amongst five more tracks on the track list that the band describes as “heavy, fast, and to the point.” The lyrics match the heavy sound, discussing a wide array of topics including spirituality, political corruption, perseverance and sacrifice, and social injustice.

Don’t be fooled by Maya’s thundering sound – underneath their boisterous exterior lies a deep desire to connect with their Latin-X peers through the hardcore community. As the first generation born in the US, the band members want to bring their vision full circle by connecting with our origins and representing diversity through their music.  The release paves the way for a new beginning as the band revitalizes their sound and vision post-pandemic:
