Brisbane’s Flynn Effect are a band apart from the usual, the everyday. A unique mix of ferocity matched with equal parts grace and an overarching darkness that permeates the ornate yet jagged sounds.
Today they are bringing a taste of their sophomore album with their single ‘Fade’. Album ‘OBSIDIAN’ will see it’s release into the world on Friday August 4th! The entire album was recorded, mixed and mastered by guitarist Jesse Higginson and the band at his home studio.
Surfacing as a live band in 2014, Flynn Effect have established themselves within their scene as a force to be reckoned with – delivering music with a theatrical flair, dramatic poise and a sound that hits like a hurricane. The band’s debut album, ‘Skin’, was released in October of that year.
On the topic of the new song and album, vocalist Tomina Vincent was forthright about the new direction. “Fade is all about going forward and persevering against all odds, no matter the setbacks and no matter the cost. Its a song about hope for the future, unity and the belief that together we can build something better. Fade was always our anthem of hope.
The new single ‘Fade’ will be available from this Friday on Spotify and streaming services and as the instant grat track on iTunes when Flynn Effect’s new album Obsidian is pre-ordered, also available from this Friday. ‘Obsidian’ is out on Friday August 4th.
