Death By Denim are today thrilled to return with their new single ‘Rise’; a song the band explain is about “separation from a lifelong relationship, and the overwhelming spectrum of emotion that comes with such events.”
Produced and mixed by Andy Lawson of Debaser Studios, ‘Rise’ meanders through a stomping beat, gentle and glittering guitar chords, and smooth howling vocals. Written after attending a Roger Waters concert, Death By Denim say “the experience inspired us to think about some of the bigger themes in our lives when writing our next work; enormous sweeping chords and simple, yet piercing, melodies were strewn throughout that performance.”
“The recording of the song was influenced by a blend of our current and old influences. We were channeling the authentic rock sound of bands such as DMAs, whilst also embracing the larger synth sounds of Tame Impala and artists alike. Going into the studio we were also listening to massive tracks such as ‘Space Oddity’ by David Bowie, and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen to put us in that zone.”
Hailing from Perth, the four-piece rock formation has been known for their high energy live shows, versatile song writing and tendency to wear outlandish combinations of denim. To celebrate the release of their latest single ‘Rise’, the band is undertaking its biggest venture yet with shows both along the west and east coast of Australia to cater to its ever-growing popularity.
