Beach Slang’s James Alex today continues to show off his tender side with the release of ‘Future Mixtape For The Art Kids,’ the third official single from his forthcoming debut Quiet Slang album, Everything Matters But No One Is Listening, which will be released on May 18 via Dew Process.

The fresh, new single is the latest chapter in the Quiet Slang saga, which has seen Philadelphia punk rock icon Alex reimagine his anthemic Beach Slang classics into minimalistic arrangements of simple vocals, cello and piano, completely flipping the tone, colour and energy of the originals, and allowing more space for his emotive voice to come into play.

After releasing the debut Quiet Slang EP We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags in 2017 (which saw Alex reimagine not only Beach Slangs songs but covers of some of his favourite Replacements and Big Star hits) the project has only gone from strength to strength. Popular initial reception pushed Alex to expand the project to a full album, with the already released singles ‘Dirty Cigarettes’ and ‘Noisy Heaven’, as well as perform the first Quiet Slang live shows at this year’s SXSW festival.

Quiet Slang plans don’t stop there either, with Alex looking to continue to expand upon both versions of his music in the future, including a follow up Beach Slang record in the aftermath of Everything Matters… as well as potential Quiet Slang originals down the road as well.
